Water-based inorganic zinc rich primer nine characteristics

Water-based inorganic zinc rich primer nine characteristics

2021-08-04

1. Without VOC

Water-based inorganic zinc rich primer is formulated without any organic ingredients, without any solvents, and is a pure water-based coating with zero VOC content.  There is no inflammable and explosive danger in the construction process, workers only need to wear dust masks to ensure health, dilute and clean the equipment directly with clean water, after cleaning water, only weakly alkaline, can do simple precipitation after straight discharge, harmless to the environment.  The country is promoting the coating water-based strategy, water-based inorganic zinc primer environmental protection and construction safety, is its biggest feature.

2. Long durability

Water-based inorganic zinc rich primer will form a pure inorganic coating after spraying, so it is completely not affected by sunshine, ultraviolet light, rain, dew, bacteria, algae or temperature and other factors. Even after years of wind and sun exposure, it will not deteriorate and its thickness will not be thinner.  And the longer the exposure time, the film after the curing degree is deepened, the denseness will be higher and higher, the adhesion of the film and the base (cohesion) test results are much higher than the initial.

3.high temperature resistance

Water-based inorganic zn-rich primer with long term heat resistance up to 400℃ without top coat.  The melting point of zinc powder is 419.6℃, but when the paint film exceeds the temperature, the zinc powder will not melt, because the zinc powder is fixed than the inorganic silicate structure, so the zinc powder particles can not flow when softening, heating to 1200℃ above is not affected.  Only in the high temperature environment of more than 400 degrees, the oxidation and carbonization rate of single-layer waterborne inorganic zinc rich primer film will be greatly accelerated, and the loss of zinc powder will be accelerated.  If the surface of the primer is coated with 1 or 2 600 degrees of silicone aluminum powder paint, insulation inorganic zinc rich coating and air contact, the long-term temperature resistance of the coating can reach 540 degrees.

4. Cathode protection

It can be found from the film formation mechanism of inorganic zinc rich primer that the cathodic protection of water-based inorganic zinc rich primer is extremely excellent.  The experiment shows that the water-based inorganic zinc rich primer is in accordance with the US army DOD P-24648 standard, which is mainly applicable to the exterior surface of steel structure exposed to the sea, high humidity, seawater and atmospheric environment containing zinc primer, among which, the specified time of cathodic protection is 30 days.  Test plates with exposed metal are immersed in 3% neutral salt water, with one-third of the plates above the liquid level.  Distilled water was added throughout the test to keep the liquid level constant.  According to the test "strong bond coating technology center", after a month of immersion test, the test plate surface exposure of waterborne inorganic zinc-rich primer, there was no rust, follow-up experiments continued for more than a year, two of the three pieces of test plate piece in a year later, exposed part not rust, also illustrates the cathodic protection and its superior.

Water-based inorganic zinc rich primers have other features compared to metal zinc coatings (electric galvanizing, hot dip galvanizing, etc.) that also provide cathodic protection.  The zinc powder in a water-based inorganic zn-rich coating is surrounded and separated by an inorganic silicate binder, which reduces its chemical reaction and electrical conductivity.  The experimental results show that the cathodic protection potential of inorganic zinc rich layer and metal zinc rich layer is the same, but the current strength of inorganic zinc rich layer is obviously lower than that of metal zinc, which indicates that the metal zinc rich layer has higher chemical activity than inorganic zinc rich layer, so it will consume faster.

5. Conducting electrostatic

The conductivity of the film of the water-based inorganic zinc rich primer is generally between 10-5 and 10-7, which can guide static electricity, so it is very suitable for the inner wall of the neutral solvent storage tank. It has excellent anti-corrosion performance, and can guide static electricity, which meets the requirements of the safety of the storage tank.

6. Solvent resistance

The water-based inorganic zinc rich primer coating is completely inorganic and therefore will not be dissolved even by highly soluble organic solvents such as aromatic hydrocarbons, ketones, lipids, chlorides of hydrocarbons and other organic solvents.  They are also immune to gasoline and diesel, lubricants, jet fuel and other petroleum products.  Therefore, in the long-term exposure to the above chemical substances in the environment, it is completely possible to use waterborne inorganic zinc rich coatings.

7. Refractory

Water-based inorganic zinc rich coatings are inorganic and do not burn, even when exposed to flames.  Coated with water - based inorganic zinc - rich primer steel plate in the use of oxyacetylene flame cutting, paint film will not burn.
